The invention of electricity brought good news to mankind. With the development of technology related to electricity, the profession of electrician came into being. The seventies and eighties of the 20th century were the golden age of electricians. If you can be an electrician in a big factory, it will be a matter of great prestige. If a beginner can follow a qualified electrician, he will feel secure all his life. Even at that time, being an electrician and dating was an advantage.
However, when people talk about electricians, they subconsciously associate with the images of being uneducated, dirty, dangerous, bitter and tired. The former "fragrant bean cake" has become an unavoidable "stinky tofu".
Electricians not only need to solve problems related to electricity, but also need to know various skills, just like low-paid handyman. For example, wiring on the construction site requires not only that you can tear down the wall with an electric pick, but also that you can cut the pipe slot with an electric saw, and you need to plaster and blow putty; If you are an electrician in an enterprise, the equipment often goes wrong, that is, the electrician’s ability is not good, the equipment is not wrong, and the electrician has nothing to do, and the boss will send all kinds of messy work.
As an electrician, the work is often covered with oil, and the working environment is relatively difficult. In addition, it often needs to be in contact with electricity, which has potential safety hazards. It has become a high-risk industry in people’s minds. Some family members will let people around them not engage in electrician out of concern for safety and pride.
Nowadays, electricity is indispensable everywhere and all the time. The demand for electricians in enterprises has increased sharply compared with the past, and the requirements for electrician skills are also higher. However, most people in the industry know a little about electricity-related skills, but there are very few high-level electricians, so there is a mismatch between skills and positions. Some enterprises also try to cultivate talents in their posts, but now employees are highly mobile, and many people just leave the enterprise after they have cultivated their skills. In order to avoid the early losses, enterprises reduce the electrician’s salary, which is even less attractive to candidates, thus falling into a vicious circle. It has formed a situation that high-level electricians are scarce and young people are unwilling to enter the electrician industry. Enterprises can only sigh that it is difficult to recruit workers and it is even more difficult to recruit young electricians.
02 training electrician cost
Nowadays, science and technology are changing with each passing day, and the requirements for electricians are increasing day by day. A professional electrician needs to master much more knowledge than ordinary people think.
Before becoming a post, you must first obtain a primary or intermediate certificate in the electrician industry, and you need to master basic knowledge such as safety knowledge, electronic technology, electrical control and PLC automation, as well as various skills such as wiring skills, installation and debugging, and wiring of various circuits after years of experience accumulation. Only by combining theoretical knowledge with experience can you be considered a qualified electrician. Only after working in this industry for 35 years can you have the opportunity to obtain a vocational certificate. This requires not only employees to continuously invest their own time to increase their professional knowledge intake after completing their work, but also enterprises to continuously invest financial and material resources, organize skills training, or give employees certain learning time.
For enterprises, whether it is organizing training or setting aside study time for employees, it is increasing the operating cost, and it is very likely that the cost will be invested in several years. As soon as employees gain some experience, they quit their jobs and went to other places, which is not worth the candle.
For employees, during these years or even decades of study, they may only be able to take the basic salary and do hard and tiring work. Many people learn to muddle along, which means that only a few people can really grow from a small white to a mechanic.
It is precisely because for enterprises and individuals, the cost of training electricians is relatively high, and the older generation lacks electrician knowledge and limited learning ability, which can’t keep up with the needs of technological changes, which has aggravated the phenomenon of "electrician shortage".
03 professional concept change
With the development of economy, people’s professional concept has also changed greatly, from pursuing food and clothing to paying more attention to realizing personal value.
In the past, as long as you have a job and earn some money, you may work hard all your life. However, most of the new generation of young people have college education or above, and their ability and knowledge have been greatly improved. At the same time, they no longer think that work is just to solve the survival needs, and they hope to create more value through work.
At the same time, the development of social science and technology has also provided people with more ways of working, such as online cooperation, telecommuting, freelancing, etc., and the labor force has gradually moved from traditional basic positions to emerging industries.
Too much of everything, blindly pursuing lofty goals, also leads to young people’s reluctance to quit their jobs from the hard physical labor in the environment, and so on. Technician jobs like electricians are mistaken for worthless low-paid handyman because of the working environment and current situation, and naturally they are not favored by young people. The change of professional concept makes the phenomenon of "electrician shortage" worse.
Generally speaking, "electrician shortage" is not a good thing for enterprises and job seekers. The quality of employees in the industry is mixed, which deepens the distrust of enterprises, affects the overall environment of the industry, and is not conducive to absorbing fresh blood, thus forming a vicious circle.
But in fact, electrician is an indispensable profession, and the value of electrician will be increasing in the future society. It is not a low-paid handyman as people think. In fact, the salary of electrician is not low at all.
If we want to change the phenomenon of "electrician shortage", we need to work together.
Society needs to change its impression of electrician, which is not the bottom job; Job seekers need to calm down to improve their professional skills and strive to become the elite of electricians; Enterprises need to provide training for electricians and improve the working environment.
People need to re-understand electricians and correct their professional concepts, so that there is only a different division of labor, and there is no difference between high and low.
