The structural elements of wire and cable products can be generally divided into four primary components: conductor, insulating layer, shielding and protective layer, as well as filling elements and tensile elements. So what materials are wires and cables made of?

  1. Copper wire: The copper wire made by continuous casting and rolling is called low oxygen copper wire. Copper wire made by up-drawing method is called oxygen-free copper wire.

Second, aluminum wires: aluminum wires used for wires should be annealed and softened, and aluminum wires used for cables generally do not need to be softened.

  3. PVC: PVC plastic is based on PVC resin and mixed with various additives, such as antioxidant, filler, brightener, flame retardant, etc. Its density is about 1.38 ~ 1.46 g/cm3.

Polyethylene: Polyethylene is polymerized from refined ethylene, which can be divided into low density polyethylene, medium density polyethylene and high density polyethylene according to density.

  V. Cross-linked polyethylene: At present, there are two types of cross-linked polyethylene mainly used in cable occupation. The first one uses silane as cross-linking agent, which is called silane cross-linking material, and is mainly used on the insulation layer of low-voltage wires and cables; The second type is crosslinked polyethylene material with dicumyl peroxide as crosslinking agent, which is mainly composed of polyethylene, crosslinking agent and antioxidant.
